Meridell Achievement Center offers residential programs for adolescents (11 to 17) who struggle with behavioral problems. These programs are designed to address psychiatric and neurological issues through behavioral and neurobehavioral care. We are proud to provide our services to military families throughout the US and worldwide with TRICARE®.
We conduct confidential evaluations during the intake process to determine the program best suited to address each adolescent’s particular needs. Patients continue their education during treatment at the JHW Inspire Academy at Meridell.
Our culture of trauma-informed care has made us realize that many of our patients have experienced some form of trauma. We screen patients for past traumas in an effort to provide compassionate treatment that reduces fears, anxieties and dangerous behaviors.
We strive for decreased protective holds and seclusions. Our approach to trauma-informed care means that we recognize the presence of trauma symptoms and acknowledge the role trauma has played in the lives of our adolescent patients.
Daily groups include psychoeducational, skills, processing, recreational therapy and other therapeutic activities. Therapy interventions are evidenced-based and informed by models including cognitive behavioral therapy, systemic family therapy, collaborative problem solving, dialectical behavioral therapy, EMDR and other trauma models. Geographically distant family therapy is possible by phone.
All programs are staffed by board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrists, a neuropsychologist and psychologist, 24-hour nursing, licensed and master-level therapists, recreational therapists and mental health technicians.
